Insert the Outbound™ Notebook Software diskette and double click on the "Installer" icon. Click the "Install" button to update your System Folder.
After running "Installer," you will need to run the "Notebook Firmware Installer." This program will restart the Notebook Computer when it finishes the installation, so please close all other applications before running it. If you have problems, questions, or comments regarding the Outbound Notebook System, contact Outbound at (303) 786-9200 or (800) 444-4607 and press "5" for Technical Support.
User's Guide Additions
====================
There is a new feature that will allow you to put your Notebook Computer to sleep from the keyboard. Just hold down the "command" and "option" keys and press "delete." The screen contrast can be adjusted by using "command," "option," and either the right or left arrow keys. The brightness can be changed by using "command" and "option" with the up and down arrow keys. These features can be disabled by unchecking the "Keyboard Shortcuts" box in the Notebook control panel.
Battery Saving Hints
===================
To maximize your battery life, use the Notebook control panel to set the CPU standby to 1 or 3 seconds. This can extend the operating time as much as an hour for 68030 CPUs. Also, set the hard disk to spin down when not being used. You can use the "battery only" checkboxes to make sure that these features are turned on only when operating on battery power. Finally, set the display brightness to the lowest acceptable level. The lowest setting can provide 15 minutes more operating time than the highest setting.
Developer Information

The TMON and TMON Pro debuggers both work fine. A patched version of Macsbug is needed to operate with the Notebook screen. Contact Outbound Technical Support for this patch. The programmer's switch is activated by holding "shift", "control" and pressing "esc".
Outbound Bulletin Board
======================
Outbound has a bulletin board available for technical support and customer comments. The number is 303-444-0358. It is a 9600 baud (V.32) modem, and supports 2400 and 1200 baud as well. Set your communication program to 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity.
Known Problems
===============
• If you experience problems accessing SCSI devices, please contact Outbound Technical Support at 1-800-444-4607. These problems are often easily solved.
• The Outbound Notebook must be specially configured for use with the GVC Teleport modem. Please contact Outbound Technical Support at 1-800-444-4607 for details.
• To prevent many applications from hanging when running with more than 8MB of memory, be sure you are running with MultiFinder.
• Many hard drive disk locking utilities are not completely compatible with the internal hard drive in the Outbound Notebook. The reason is that these utilities are only completely compatible with SCSI disk drives, and the Outbound internal drive is non-SCSI. Call Outbound Technical Support at 1-800-444-4607 for a list of compatible disk locking utilities.
• MIDI applications may have timing related problems on the Outbound Notebook when using "internal sync." Configuring an application to use Apple MIDI Manager can provide flawless performance with MIDI.
• When formatting DOS diskettes using DOS Mounter version 3.00 from Dayna Communications, the dialog box allows you to select either high density or low density format. You must select the correct button for the type of disk actually inserted.
• The system will hang when waking up from Sleep if there is no hard drive installed.
